National Police Remembrance Day 2025

In the morning at Tasmania Police Academy, Rokeby, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, accompanied by Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers, delivered an address and laid a wreath to mark National Police Remembrance Day.

In her address, the Governor remembered and honoured Tasmania Police officers Constable Keith Smith and Sergeant Adam Eastley who passed away in 2025.

She also acknowledged the recent deaths of Victoria Police officers, Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim De Waart-Hottart.

“These officers’ sacrifice and dedication to service is not forgotten,” the Governor said.

“On this important day of remembrance, I honour and remember all those officers who have given their lives in the course of their duties.

“To the families, friends, and colleagues bereaved by their loss, we offer our condolences and express our gratitude for their protection of our community.”
