National Science Week 2025

In the evening the Governor was delighted to host a reception at Government House to mark National Science Week as it got underway in Tasmania.

Science teachers and students from southern Tasmanian schools, as well as representatives from the University of Tasmania, joined together to celebrate a week of exciting events.

This year Hobart’s Elizabeth College is marking 25 years of leading National Science Week activities, so there was a special cake to celebrate this milestone and the College’s bands also provided some entertainment.

Speaking to guests, the Governor highlighted Tasmania’s fine scientific reputation, particularly in areas including Antarctic and climate science and marine and environmental research.

She said as more bright young minds were needed to continue this work, she wished everyone well for a successful National Science Week 2025 full of experiences to inspire our next generation of scientists.
