In the morning at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers received Mr Nathan Walker, incoming Executive Secretary, together with Dr David Agnew, Executive Secretary, of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR).
In the evening, the Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted a reception for members of the Royal Commonwealth Society, Tasmania Branch, and other Loyal Societies to mark Commonwealth Day.
Commonwealth Day is observed on the second Monday in March each year, with events and activities taking place in Commonwealth nations across the globe.
In the afternoon at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers received Acting British Consul-General, Mrs Sunny Ahmed, and Deputy Consul-General, Mrs Oonagh Lewis, together with the Honorary Consul for the United Kingdom in Tasmania, Mr Frank McGregor.
In the morning at Sheffield, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, accompanied by Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers, delivered an address to officially open the 31st SteamFest event hosted by the Redwater Creek Steam and Heritage Society.

In the evening on board the French icebreaker, L’Astrolabe, berthed at Macquarie Wharf 4, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, accompanied by Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers, delivered an address at a reception hosted by the Ambassador of France, His Excellency Mr Pierre-André Imbert.

In the morning at Huntingfield, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers met with staff and undertook a tour of the operations of Southern Ocean Subsea Pty Ltd.
In her community engagement role, the Governor supports Tasmanian business and regularly visits companies around the State to meet with staff and hear about their innovative operations.
In the evening at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted a reception on the occasion of the visit to Tasmania by a delegation of European Union economic and commercial counsellors.

In the morning at Swansea Fire Station, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers attended a morning tea hosted by the Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) to meet with TFS and Tasmania State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers who supported the fire incident and ongoing fire management efforts at Dolphin Sands in December 2025.
Later at Bellerive Oval, the Governor and Professor Chalmers attended the Women’s Ashes Second One Day International cricket match between Australia and India.

Today at Mowbray Racecourse, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, accompanied by Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers, attended and presented a trophy at the 2026 Launceston Cup Day hosted by the Tasmanian Turf Club Inc.
